:  urethritis caused by a microorganism other than a gonococcus; especially :  urethritis that is sexually transmitted and is caused especially by a bacterium of the genus Chlamydia (C. trachomatis) or a mycoplasma of the genus Ureaplasma (U. urealyticum)—called also nonspecific urethritis
